OWA
How to access your email account
A webmail interface to the King's email service enables access to your email account from anywhere on the Internet using a web browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.
The email service can also be accessed using an email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird. For instructions on configuring your email client and the settings for connecting to the mail server please read our section on
email clients.
Am I entitled to a King's email account?
Standard King's email accounts are automatically available for qualifying students and staff. Students receive their King's email account details at enrolment. Staff need to complete the
RF2 email application form and return this to a
help desk who will then activate the account. Students and staff who have mislaid their email login details will need to come to a
help desk with their College id card.
Please read our section on
email accounts for further details on:
- standard student and staff email accounts
- non-standard email accounts for non-qualifying staff
- owned email accounts for departmental use
Inbox message expiry
To maintain the effectiveness of the email system ISS periodically deletes old messages from users' inboxes. Only messages in the inbox are affected; no other mail folder or sub-folder is touched in any way so messages moved from the inbox to other folders or sub-folders will be preserved. Messages deleted from the inbox under this scheme cannot be retrieved.
The following rules apply to email accounts:
- Emails older than 180 days will be deleted from the inboxes of staff, research postgraduates and owned accounts.
- Emails older than 90 days will be deleted from the inboxes of taught postgraduates and undergraduates.
