Transport between sites

Guy's to St Thomas'

  • Hospital shuttle bus - every 20 minutes (15 minutes at peak times), service from 08.00-17.40. ID card required. Bus stop at Guy's: the lay-by adjacent to the Bloomfield Clinic on Great Maze Pond. Stop at St Thomas': outside the Florence Nightingale Museum.
  • Bus - P11. Stop at Guy's: corner of Weston and St Thomas' Street. Stop at Waterloo: last stop, by Westminster Bridge. Typical journey time: 15 minutes. From St Thomas' you get off outside Hay's Galleria and walk through the tunnel to Guy's.
    344 - stops on Borough High Street outside Guy's Hospital. At St Thomas' the bus stops outside Brian Creamer House/ The Rectory on Lambeth Road; walk across the Archbishop's Park to the A&E entrance of St Thomas' Hospital. Typical journey time: 10 minutes.
  • Train - London Bridge: platform 5/6 to Waterloo East (Charing Cross train), frequent service, journey time approx 5 minutes. Walk from Waterloo to St Thomas': 10 minutes.
  • Walk - An easy 30-minute walk between the two hospitals. There are many routes but the quickest seems to be Borough High Street - Union Street - The Cut - Lower Marsh - Upper Marsh - St Thomas'.
  • Bike - the walking route is suggested.

Guy's to the Strand

  • Tube - London Bridge (Northern Line) to Bank, change to Circle and District Line (Monument) and go westbound to Temple (or, walk over London Bridge to Monument for the Temple bound train directly). Journey time: 10-20 minutes.
  • Train - London Bridge, platform 5/6 to Waterloo East, then walk across Waterloo Bridge. Journey time: about 20 minutes.
  • Walk - about 30 minutes. The best route avoiding traffic is along the south bank of the Thames, crossing the Millennium footbridge. Continue along the Thames path going west, under Blackfriars bridge and along Victoria Embankment towards the Temple. Alternatively cross the river at Waterloo Bridge.

Guy's to Waterloo

  • Train - London Bridge, platform 5/6 to Waterloo East (journey time: about 5 minutes), then walk.
  • Tube - London Bridge to Waterloo (Jubilee line), then walk

Guy's, St Thomas', King's College and Maudsley Hospitals

An internal shuttle bus service run will run betweeen these sites for staff and student transport only. The service is provided by the Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC).

St Thomas' to Waterloo or the Strand

  • Walk - along the South Bank, past the Royal Festival Hall to Waterloo Bridge (10 minutes). For Waterloo campus, go up the ramp to the roundabout at Waterloo. For the Strand, cross Waterloo Bridge to the Strand (a further 5-10 minutes).

Strand to King's Denmark Hill

  • Bus - routes 68 and 176 stop directly outside the Strand main entrance and head towards the Camberwell area. bus 68 stops directly outside the hospital, bus 176 stops just before it. Bus 171 stops at Camberwell Green.
  • Train - Blackfriars to Denmark Hill.

Guy's to King's Denmark Hill

  • Bus - routes 35 and 40 stop on Borough High Street (by Newcomen Street) and go directly to Camberwell Green and Denmark Hill respectively. Journey time: 20-30 minutes.
  • Train - London Bridge to Denmark Hill (usually a London Bridge-Victoria train). Journey time: about 10 minutes.
